Winter is here, and the cold weather makes everyone want to stay inside! Why not grab some friends and throw together a game night? It’s simple and easy to put together, and will be a hit! Plus, who doesn’t love a little competition?
Our Party Host Helper Tampa Ambassador and party expert, Jen, loves throwing game night parties with her friends and family. She shared a few of her favorite recipes, games and tips to help you throw a successful party!
Games
Pass it On: We love this game because it’s super simple to play, and hilarious! It’s like broken telephone, but you draw the saying instead and pass it on! This is a time when your not-so-perfect drawing skills result in an even funnier game!
Cards Against Humanity: This is the adult version of Apples to Apples, and is always a hit! The more players the better the game will be!
What do you Meme: This game will certainly get the party going. Using a deck of more than 400 cards, players compete to see who can create the funniest meme.
LIFE: If you’re hosting a smaller party, LIFE is a great game to get everyone involved! It’s always good to have a classic as an option, and this one is always a crowd-pleaser!
Heads Up!: Created by the always funny Ellen DeGeneres, this is an interactive and fun game. One player chooses a category and hold the phone up to their forehead, so they can’t see it and everyone else can. Everyone gives the person guesses until they say the word on their screen. Whoever gets the most correct answers in the allotted time, wins!

Decor Tips
Game night can be very simple. To make sure your night goes smoothly here are a few simple tips:
Score Board
Get a big chalk board from your local A.C. Moore or Michaels and write everyone’s names to keep score of who wins each game!
Wing Glass Card Tags
We love this idea so everyone knows which glass is theirs, and it keeps with the game night theme! Get a stack of cards, cut a hole in the center and place around the base of the wine glass!
Twister Mat
Use the twister mat as a table cloth and who knows, by the end of the night you might end up playing the classic game too!
Personal Tips
You can never have too many seats/chairs, ice and beverages! You can either get a few folding chairs, or grab some big pillows to allow guest to get cozy on the floor. Also, make sure to do the math to ensure every guest gets at least 4 drinks.
Don’t make a recipe for the first time when entertaining! Do a test run so you know long how long it takes to prep, cook and how it tastes. I recommend doing the same thing with the drinks.
Don’t forget a fun playlist for some upbeat background tunes. Make sure to include fun pump up jams like “Eye of the Tiger and the Rocky theme song!
Kick back, relax and enjoy yourself at your party! Guests can tell when you’re stressed and it sets the vibe for the whole event. For the most successful game night party, stack the odds in your favor by hiring Party Host Helpers!
