It’s July, and that means it is hot and humid out there. Perfect time to throw a pool party! Your guests will be so glad to get out of the heat, and enjoy the nice cool water. It is fun for all ages, and with a few simple and budget-friendly tips, you’ll throw the best pool bash of the summer!
Prep a Few Yummy Treats
Have some fun snacks stored in your fridge and freezer for when guests get hungry such as slices of watermelon, popsicles (we recommend making your own – super easy and delicious), pretzels and gold fish. If you’re willing to fire up the oven, throw in some mini apps like pigs in a blanket. Grab some paper plates and napkins, and you’re ready to go! All crowd pleasers and easy cleanup for the host.
Don’t Forget the Music!
Set the tone with a non-stop selection of your favorite beach or tropical tunes. A few great options are, the Beach Boy’s “Sights and Sounds of Summer,” or Jimmy Buffet’s “Meet Me in Margaritaville.”
Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!
When you’re having fun splashing around in the pool, you forget to drink water! Make sure you have some water bottles, lemonade, and iced tea ready to go in a cooler or ice bucket for when guests get thirsty. Best to stay away from anything with glass in case someone drops it near the pool.
Stock up on Cool Pool Floats
Grab a bunch of different types from your local Target or Walmart. Some funny options are a giant swan, donut or slice of pizza. Everyone will fight over who gets what float!
Extra Towels
Have a few extra towels handy for the guests who forgot to bring their own. You can stick them in a bin or basket off to the side. This thoughtful touch will be appreciated by everyone.
Sunscreen
If you’re going to be outside all day, don’t forget sunscreen. Buy a few bottles, find an old metal tub or flower pot in your garage, and place around the pool for easy access.
Play Some Games
Pool games are always a huge hit! Make sure to have some beach balls, water balloons, and squirt guns ready to go for when guests want to play. Most of these items can be found at your local dollar store so stock up!
Favors
If you want to add a nice final touch to your party, send your guests home with an after-sun body lotion. Even though you made sure to have sunscreen available, this will be a thoughtful favor to have after a long-day outside.
Now that your ready for you next party, don’t forget to book a Party Host Helper to serve your guests (and you!) so you can sit back and enjoy the great time you worked hard to make happen!
